Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him stunned and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
